Syriana

Recently I happend to watch this movie "Syriana". A real high profile, complex and serious movie, about a small hypothetical middle east country, its oil, its reformist Emir ( king ). Its a movie about a nation or a government which can dare to do anything from taking hold of a victim country's political system, luring the key people to killing its Emir. Its about a government trying to find out the facts about illegal mergers/amalgamations to enforce the law. Its a movie about how business guys do their business in the name of their smarts and tactics. It is a movie that shows how easy it is to lay off guys working for years for their basic livelihood, and how hard it is to find themselves laid off ruthlessly (from their perspective) so suddenly. and so so. A worth watching movie. I found this kind of love for this kind of movies when I first watched "the insider", a movie about a tobacco company.Movies of this kind have much to show to the people, much for the characters to speak and act. I recommend if somebody didnt watch it yet to watch this movie. I mentioned some dialog excerpts below.
Prince Nasir ( Emir ): I studied at Oxford. I have a PHD from Georgetown. I want to create a parliament. I want to give women the right to vote. I want to start a new petroleum exchange in the Middle-east and cut the speculators out of the business. why are the major oil exchanges in New York and London anyway? I'll put all of our energy up for the competitive bidding, I'll pipe through Iran to Europe like you proposed, I'll ship to China, anything that achieves efficiency and maximizes profits for my people, profits which I'll then use to rebuild my country.
Bryan: That's great, that's exactly what you should do.
Prince Nasir: Exactly, except your president calls my father, says, "I have got unemployment in Texas, Kansas, Washington State". One phone call later we're stealing out of our social programs to buy overpriced airplanes. We owned the Americans, but we've repaid that debt. I accepted a Chinese bid, the highest bid. And suddenly I'm a terrorist. I'm a Godless communist.

Danny D. : Corruption is our protection. Corruption is what keeps us safe and warm. Corruption is why you and I are here in the white-hot center of things instead of fighting each other for scraps of meat out there in the streets. Corruption is how we win.
